Dr. Avtar Brar
I vividly remember Dr. Marcus' brown, wood-paneled station wagon pulling up into our driveway to pay our Labrador retriever, Stormy, a visit. He looked like the classic old school veterinarian making house calls to examine and treat his patients. He had thick gray hair and wore a traditional white lab coat that cut off just beyond his beltline. After exchanging pleasantries with my mom, he examined Stormy, administered her vaccines and retrieved a sample of blood. Years later, I graduated from veterinary school at the University of Missouri in 2002 and traveled to Wheat Ridge to complete their coveted internship. For several years, I worked with some of the best doctors at the best hospitals in the Denver area. I honed my skills in surgery and medicine and learned how to use the many tools in our profession including ultrasound, laparoscopy, and digital radiography. Then, I was recruited by Pfizer Animal Health (now Zoetis), the largest Animal Health company in the world. I served as a technical advisor and educator on their many innovative treatments for dogs and cats. We introduced new cutting edge treatments for pet allergies. We created the best medicines to stop vomiting, itching and even anxieties due to fireworks. Now at Golden Paws, I want to bring all of these experiences together. I want to be your neighborhood veterinarian, like Dr. Marcus was for my family. In addition, I want to deliver the highest quality medicine for which my experience and training has prepared me. My wife, Amber, and I along with my daughters Hannah (11) and Maggie (7) thank you for allowing us to treat your furry family members. Tater Tot, our Golden Retriever, is also grateful as far as we can tell :)!

AMY
I have an unconditional love and adoration for animals of all kinds. After working in a financial office for eight years, I decided to attend Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. In December 2006, I began my new career as a Certified Veterinary Technician working for a high volume small animal veterinary hospital. I became proficient within all departments of the hospital and learned an uncountable number of nursing skills. I worked closely with a veterinary dentist for several years and learned a tremendous amount about veterinary dentistry and the importance of good oral health in our pets. I was also involved in the monitoring and assisting of hundreds of anesthetized patients for a wide array of procedures including dental, orthopedic, routine, and emergency surgical procedures. I take my biggest pride in working with the intensive care patients in the hospital. My #1 goal in working with sick or injured animals is to ensure they feel as comfortable as possible and are given the love, compassion, and a feeling security in their time of need. My job is to administer the right medication, notice changes in their behavior, provide an extra blanket, talk in a soothing voice, give a scratch on the head or a rub of the belly. My biggest personal expectation is to treat every patient as I would want to have my own pets treated. Ten years later, I truly adore my job and every animal I have had the privilege of working with. I am ecstatic to be working with Dr. Lane again and have a deep respect for him as a veterinarian. In my spare time, I practice yoga, hike, golf, and hang out outdoors as much possible. I love spending time with my 23 year-old daughter, my boyfriend, my two 13 year-old Corgis, and my one crazy cat.

Because of my love and admiration for animals, I have been working in the Customer Service area of veterinary medicine for 19 1/2 years. I have met many wonderful pets and developed relationships with equally wonderful pet owners during that time. I adore working in Golden, with Dr. Sam and Amy. We have all worked together previously and I look forward to our continued working relationship at Golden Paws. After living on the East and West Coasts, I have settled in Colorado. Currently I reside in Littleton and I love living in Colorado! I have three grown children and an Australian Shepard named Meg. I look forward to meeting all the wonderful pets and owners who will frequent Golden Paws!
